THE SCRIPTURE— We believe the Bible is the written word of God.

It is the only infallible rule of faith and duty, inspired by the Holy Spirit and without error in the original manuscripts. It is the governing rule for the life of the members of this church.

  • John 20:30-31; Micah 6:8; John 17:17; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; 2 Timothy 3:15-17
GOD— We believe there is but one God and He alone is to be worshiped.

He is a Spirit, self-existent, omnipresent, infinite, eternal, and unchangeable in His being: wisdom, holiness, justice, goodness, truth, and love.

  • John 4:24; Psalm 90:2; John 1:1-5; Acts 17:22-31; Colossians 1:15-20; Revelation 1:8; 1 Kings 8:27; Job 11:7-9; Jeremiah 23:23-24; Acts 17:22-31; Malachi 3:6; Hebrews 13:8; Exodus 3:14; Psalm 147:5; Revelation 4:8; 15:4; Exodus 34:6-7
THE TRINITY— We believe in the Godhead, there are three Persons—the Father, the Son, and the Holy Spirit.

And these three are one God, the same in substance, equal in power and glory.

  • Matthew 3:16-17; 28:19; Deuteronomy 6:4; 1 Corinthians 8:4; 2 Corinthians 13:14
THE CREATION— We believe all things visible and invisible were created by God.

All things were created by the word of His power, and are preserved and governed by Him so that, while He is in no way the Author of sin, He works all things according to the counsel of His will.

  • Genesis 1:1; 1:3-25; John 1:3; Colossians 1:16; Job 12:10; Acts 17:25, 28; 17:29; Deuteronomy 32:4; James 1:13; Ephesians 1:11; Revelation 4:11; Romans 13:1; 1 Peter 3:17; James 4:15
HUMANITY— We believe God wonderfully and immutably creates each person as male or female after His own image.

God created them in knowledge, righteousness and holiness, with dominion over the creatures. These two distinct, complementary genders together reflect the image and nature of God.

  • Genesis 1:27; Colossians 3:10; Ephesians 4:24; Genesis 1:28

CHRISTIAN LIFE— We believe that all aspects of our lives are to be lived to the glory of God under the Lordship of Jesus Christ, governed by the Bible.

  • 1 Corinthians 10:31; Revelation 4:11; Psalms 73:25-26; Isaiah 33:22; 32:1-2; 1 Corinthians 15:25

MARRIAGE— We believe that the term “marriage” has only one meaning: the uniting of one man and one woman in a single, exclusive union, as delineated in Scripture.

  • Genesis 2:18-25
SIN— We believe that because of the rebellion of the first man, sin entered the world.

Death entered the world through sin, and in this way death came to all men. Thus, all are sinners and totally unable to save themselves from God’s displeasure, except by His mercy.

  • Genesis 3:6; Ecclesiastes 7:29; Romans 5:12-21; 3:16; 3:23; Ecclesiastes 7:20; Genesis 3:21; Ephesians 1:4; Romans 3:21-22; Titus 3:5
JESUS CHRIST— We believe that Jesus Christ is the eternal Son of God.

Through His perfect life and sacrificial death and resurrection Jesus atoned for the sins of all who will trust in Him, alone, for salvation.

  • John 1:1-18; Colossians 1:15-19; Hebrews 1:1-14; Galatians 2:16; John 4:34; 5:30; Philippians 2:5-8; Hebrews 5:8-10; 10:5-10
THE HOLY SPIRIT— We believe that the Holy Spirit helps people to trust and follow Christ.

The Holy Spirit proceeds from the Father and the Son, indwells God’s people and gives them the strength and wisdom to trust Christ and follow Him.

  • Genesis 1:1-2; Acts 5:3-4; Romans 8:9-17; 1 Corinthians 6:19-20; Ephesians 2:19-22; John 6:63; Ephesians 2:8; Acts 26:18; 15:13; 5:32; 15:28; Romans 8:16; Galatians 5:16-18
SALVATION— We believe that God in His mercy and grace, sent His Son Jesus Christ to rescue us from death.

We believe that our redemption has been accomplished solely by the blood of our Savior Jesus Christ; that the new birth of the believer comes only through repentance and faith in Christ and in no other. And because God gives us eternal life through Jesus Christ, the true believer is secure in that salvation for eternity.

  • Luke 23:43; John 5:28-29; Acts 11:18; 2:37-38; Romans 3:21-22; 1 Timothy 2:5; Matthew 10:32; 1 John 3:2; 1 Thessalonians 4:17; John 10:28; 2 Peter 1:10;
    1 Corinthians 15:57
THE CHURCH— We believe that the Church consists of those who have been born again and united with Christ by the work of the Holy Spirit.

These believers are given various spiritual gifts to build the unity of the Body in love and help one another to live godly lives, especially reminding each other of who they are in Christ and how they should live.

  • Matthew 16:18; 1 Corinthians 12; 14:26; Ephesians 4:12; Colossians 3:15; Acts 2:42-46
THE ORDINANCES: BAPTISM AND THE LORD’S SUPPER— We believe that water baptism and the Lord’s Supper are ordinances to be observed by the Church during the present age.

The execution of these important ordinances, however, is not basis for salvation.

  • Matthew 28:19, 20; Luke 22:15-20; 11:22-34; Acts: 2:41; Romans 6:3-6; 1 Corinthians 11:20-29
APOSTLES— We believe the apostolic authority today is found only in the Bible.

We believe that an apostle was one who was sent with authority to speak for Jesus who commissioned him; that the Biblical criteria for apostleship included being an eyewitness of Jesus’ resurrection, and called directly by Christ. Thus we believe that there are no apostles today in the Biblical sense, and the apostolic authority today is found only in the Bible.

  • 1 Corinthians 9:1; 15:7-9; Matthew 10:1-7; Mark 3:14; Galatians 1:1; Romans 1:5; Ephesians 2:20; Revelation 21:14; 1 Corinthians 15:8; John 16:13-14;
    2 Peter 3:2; Acts 5:2-4; 1 Corinthians 14:37; 2 Corinthians 13:3
THE LAST DAY— We believe at the Last Day the dead shall be raised, and all shall appear before the judgment seat of Christ.

At that Day Jesus will return, bodily and visibly, to judge all mankind and to receive His people to Himself.

  • 1 Corinthians 6:14; 15:20; 15:51, 53; 2 Corinthians 4:14; Romans 2:5; 14:10-12; Acts 17:31; 10:42; 2Timothy 4:1; Matthew 25:31-33
HEAVEN AND HELL— We believe all people will live eternally.

People who believe in Jesus’ substitutionary death for their sins will rise and live eternally with God and His people in heaven, and people who do not believe in Jesus will dwell eternally in hell with all the people whose names are not recorded in the book of life.

  • Revelation 20:15; 21:27; Matthew 25:41, 46; 2 Corinthians 5:17, 21
